HOLDERNESS — Join New Hampshire Fish and Game’s Patrick Tate at Squam Lakes Natural Science Center on Thursday, June 15, from 6 to 7 p.m., to learn about eastern mountain lions.
Eastern mountain lions were once native to New Hampshire but are now extinct within the state. However, residents and tourists have reported mountain lion sightings which creates questions, sometimes tall tales, and certainly debate about mountain lion presence. Conversely, western mountain lions are slowly expanding their range eastward.
Patrick Tate is a wildlife biologist at New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and will be giving an adult lecture on eastern mountain lions, western mountain lions, New Hampshire sighting reports, hoaxes, miss-identifications, some tall tales, and facts on these unique animals relative to New Hampshire.
The lecture is an in-person program held at the science center. There is no charge to attend this event, but seating is limited and advance reservations are required. To register for this event and learn about upcoming programs and membership go to nhnature.org.
