WOLFEBORO — Makers Mill will offer a two-day workshop Enameling Techniques for Jewelers on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18-19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Class size is between six and eight participants, 18 and up.
No prior experience with enameling is required, although a basic understanding of torch use is recommended.
Instructor Betsy Keeney, an experienced jewelry artist, will guide students through metalsmithing and enameling. With a background in education and a master's degree in school counseling, Keeney has dedicated her time to sharing her passion for jewelry making with others. She has an extensive knowledge of and love for crafting, combined with her dedication to teaching.
Enameling is a centuries-old method used to adorn metals, offering a way to infuse color into jewelry and other metal objects. During this two-day workshop, students will be introduced to various enameling techniques, mastering metal preparation, enamel application and torch and kiln firing. Participants will also have the chance to experiment with crackle enamels, underglazes, stencils and several advanced techniques, including fire scale line, sgraffito, and basse taille.
