SANDWICH — The New Hampshire Department of Transportation began a drainage repair on Squam Lake Road approximately 1,440 feet south of Millbridge Road on Monday. The repair is a result of erosion from a cross-pipe failure underneath the roadway creating unsafe conditions for the traveling public. Road users should expect full road closure, which began Tuesday. Construction will last through Wednesday

Work will be scheduled between 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Squam Lake Road traffic is anticipated to open Thursday, June 25. After the cross pipe has been repaired, and paving operations begin road users can expect alternating one-way traffic through the work zone during construction hours.

Message boards, traffic control devices, and flaggers will be used to notify the traveling public of the construction activities. A detour will be put in place for the duration of the closure. Travelers should use caution, remain alert, and follow all posted signs while driving through the detour and through the work zone.

Detour route includes Squam Lake Road to Bean Road to Route 25 to Route 109.

Road users are also encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic related messages (text or email) from newengland511.org.
