MEREDITH — The 60th anniversary of the premiere of the original Star Trek series on NBC takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The staff of the Meredith Public Library invites the public to boldly celebrate 60 years of imagination and sci-fi excellence with fun and prizes.
There are two ways to earn raffle tickets for space-theme prizes, which include a galaxy-theme stationery set and a 3D optical illusion spaceship desk lamp. One way is to take the favorite captain's poll and the other way is to wear a Starfleet uniform.
Everyone can spin the library prize wheel for space-theme souvenirs as well as use the Word of the Day (which will be "dilithium crystals") in a sentence at the circulation desk to earn a piece of candy.
There will be an outer space backdrop for selfies and display of sci-fi books to browse to bring readers to the final frontier where they can explore strange new worlds while they live long and prosper.
