MOULTONBOROUGH — Castle in the Clouds is celebrating another successful summer as they prepare to conclude their 2026 season on Sunday, Oct. 25. Throughout the summer season, more than 40,000 visitors participated in over 200 events and programs, including tours, guided hikes, theatrical performances, as well as classes and workshops led by local experts.

As the 2026 season marks the 20th anniversary of the Castle Preservation Society, Castle in the Clouds included special events and a gallery exhibit to recall the history of the National Historic Landmark Lucknow Estate. Hosted in collaboration with Foxx Run Farm in Ossipee, the Petting Zoo Weekend commemorated this milestone anniversary by paying homage to the original petting zoo featured on the estate when Richard Robie first opened to the public in 1959. The gallery exhibit, "From Private Estate to Public Treasure: Lucknow after Thomas and Olive Plant," features stories, photographs, and memorabilia of the various owners of the Lucknow Estate, including the Robie family, before CPS assumed responsibility for managing the estate.

The 2026 season provided a unique opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of CPS over the past 20 years and plan for the future of Castle in the Clouds. To continue the mission of preserving and sharing the buildings and landscape of the Lucknow Estate, CPS added two new members to their leadership team, Joseph Raboin as director of buildings and grounds and Kate Armenio as director of business operations. Both these roles are essential to providing the unforgettable experience that Castle in the Clouds promises to visitors.

“Our staff and volunteers worked tirelessly this year to create a landmark season for the Castle and our visitors,” said Charles Clark, executive director of Castle in the Clouds. “Between our popular programs and events that are requested every year and the new events we organized to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Castle Preservation Society, we achieved our goal of delivering an unforgettable experience for everyone who visits onsite and online. As our new strategic planning continues, we are relying on the outstanding feedback we continue to receive from visitors, supporters and partners to ensure that Castle in the Clouds continues to be a must-stop destination in the Lakes Region.”

Although the 2026 season officially concludes at the end of the day on Saturday, Oct. 24, Castle in the Clouds will continue to offer programs and events through the end of the year. Current calendar entries include Castle Trivia Night, crafting workshops, holiday-themed programs, and the beloved Christmas at the Castle, which also features the exclusive Preview Party and Twilight Tours again this year.
