WOLFEBORO — Village Players Theater in Wolfeboro will present Sir Terry Pratchet’s “Wyrd Sisters” on Aug. 16-25. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
The play follows the attempts of three witches to stand between the fantastical kingdom of Lancre and impending doom brought on by the murder of its king.
Audiences can expect hilarious nods to Shakespeare, deadpan dialogue, along with detailed costumes and sets.
The lead roles of the witches are taken by new and veteran Village Players actors Lynn Madore as Granny Weatherwax, Jayson Andrews as Nanny Ogg and Emily Marsh as Magrat Garlick. The wicked Duke Felmet is played by Bob Tuttle abetted by his evil Duchess Magner Peruto. The Fool, who is more than he seems, is played by Jim Bomersbach. Portraying King Verence, a ghost, is Brendan Berube, and Tomjohn, an actor and the son of Verence is played by A.J. O’Neil.
Accompanying this motley crew of witches, royalty, and courtiers are a large cast hailing from around the Lakes Region, including Russ Ellis, Ben Dudley, Stefanie Marsh, Carol Bense, Max Gehring, Luca J. Pelegrine, Sylas Kenerson, Jasmine Emerson, Janice Knepp, Emily Close, Lee Kennedy, Mary Foedermair, and Amy Estes.
