LACONIA — Operation Christmas Child collection of shoe-boxes designed to brighten the spirits of young boys and girls during the Christmas season is underway. The Laconia community is getting ready to focus on making a difference in the lives of children facing difficult circumstances.
There is no joy quite like that of giving and using our resources to let children around the world know that they are loved and not forgotten. Laconia area residents are not alone in this effort. More than 150,000 volunteers including families, churches, groups like the Boy Scouts and seniors are locking hands to help in the largest Christmas Project of its kind.
The Evangelical Baptist Church gymnasium on Fairmont and Washington streets will again serve as a drop-off and collection location for shoe-boxes from Nov. 15-22. The hours of operation will be 4-6 p.m. during that week, and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
