MEREDITH — The Meredith Public Library presents a special virtual author event with bestselling novelist Juliette Fay.
Fay will discuss her latest historical novel, “The Harvey Girls,” in a live Zoom presentation that will also be shown on the library’s big screen — giving attendees the option to join in person or from home.
Juliette Fay is an acclaimed author of multiple bestselling novels celebrated for their vivid historical settings and deeply human storytelling. Her work shines a light on strong women navigating moments of upheaval and transformation, earning her a loyal and growing readership.
In “The Harvey Girls,” Fay brings readers to 1926, where two women from vastly different worlds find themselves on parallel paths. Charlotte Crowninshield, raised in Boston’s elite society, is on the run from a violent marriage. Billie MacTavish, the daughter of Scottish immigrants in Nebraska, has sacrificed her education to help support her struggling family. Both take jobs as “Harvey Girls” — waitresses in the groundbreaking hospitality chain along the Santa Fe Railroad.
This is a “can’t miss” opportunity to hear directly from the author about the inspiration behind the novel, the real history of the Harvey Girls, and the compelling themes that drive the story. Attendees are encouraged to come prepared with a question or two for the live Q&A.
Copies of “The Harvey Girls” are available to borrow at the Meredith Public Library.
This author talk will be on Thursday, April 30, at noon. The Zoom link is available on the library’s online calendar at meredithlibrary.org or by emailing erin@meredithlibrary.org.
