ASHLAND — Ashland Elementary School students in grades 4 and 5 have been investigating speed velocity, gravity and impact. With the help of the Ashland Fire Department, the students had the opportunity to test their knowledge. Mr. Jim Wenhart, science teacher, explained that the students were challenged to create a protective covering that would keep an egg safe when dropped from the top of the ladder truck.
The students chose a wide variety of mediums to protect their egg including stuffed animals, pillows, balloons, pool floats and garbage bags.
The students did such a great job that the ladder to be raised several times before any eggs were broken. Students and community members had a great time learning and working together.
