CONCORD — The New Hampshire Preservation Alliance and The 1772 Foundation have announced 1:1 matching grants of up to $10,000 are available for historic preservation projects. The deadline is Monday, Dec. 1, to submit the online letter of inquiry, the first stage of the application process.

To be eligible, organizations must have a 501(c)(3) IRS designation and own, or have a long-term lease, on the building. Funding will not be provided to government bodies (local, state or federal), or to school or religious organizations.

Eligible projects include exterior painting, finishes and surface restoration; upgrades to/installation of fire detection; lightning protection and security systems; repairs to/restoration of porches, roofs and windows; structural foundation and sill repair/replacement; and chimney and masonry repointing.

Grants over the last six years have supported 91 rehabilitation and restoration projects for a variety of community landmark buildings throughout the state. The New Hampshire Preservation Alliance strengthens communities and stimulates local economies by encouraging the protection and revival of historic buildings and places.
