GILFORD — The Central NH Amateur Radio Club invites locals to join their club at their annual Field Day exercise test meetup.
It will be held on Saturday June 27, at 2 p.m., to Sunday, June 28, noon, at the Belknap County Sportsman’s Association at 182 Lily Pond Road in Gilford.
This event is held across the U.S. by all radio clubs on these dates. The Field Day exercise will be in the air-conditioned meeting room with bathrooms and a full kitchen.
The purpose of the Field Day is to demonstrate Amateur Radio’s capability to operate off-grid in an emergency such as a major weather-related event. Amateur radio can reach all around the world including local emergency services.
People are invited all to visit them at the Belmont County Sportsmen’s Association. There will be an information table with handouts for the public and tours available. A good time will be had by all visitors as they entering into the fascinating world of amateur radio.
