LACONIA — AI seems to be everywhere. It’s writing books, answering questions, creating pictures, changing jobs, and occasionally getting things spectacularly wrong. So what can it actually do for people?
Join Bill Gassman at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Laconia for a lively, interactive introduction to AI for beginners and casual users. The talk will cut through some of the hype and worry and explore practical ways to use AI for planning, learning, writing, research, travel, everyday problem-solving, and more.
Attendees will see what AI does well, where it can fool them, and why their own judgment still matters. Expect demonstrations, real-world examples, questions, and probably a few surprises.
No technical background is needed. Bring curiosity, skepticism, and something to ask AI.
The presentation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Laconia located at 172 Pleasant St. There will be a potluck at 5:30 p.m. and then Gassman will do his presentation at 6:30 p.m. Attendees are welcome at either the potluck or just the presentation.
Gassman is retired after a 40-year career in information technology, with experience as an industry analyst, network operations manager, software engineer, and marketing specialist. He remains active in local technology and conservation efforts, serving on the Moultonborough Conservation Commission and the Carroll County Communications District.
