CAMPTON ― The White Mountain National Forest is hiring seasonal employees for the upcoming recreation season and is encouraging local residents to apply.

“Our seasonal employees are the backbone of summer operations — keeping our campgrounds, trails and recreation sites open, safe and welcoming for visitors,” said Derek Ibarguen, White Mountain National Forest supervisor. “These positions offer meaningful work, hands-on experience and the chance to support public lands close to home.”

The White Mountain National Forest is recruiting for a variety of roles, including:

  • Maintaining developed recreation areas and hiking trails
  • Engaging with the public in the field or at Visitor Centers
  • Surveying for rare plants and helping control invasive species

These positions are in addition to seasonal fire hire events, already underway. Bringing on seasonal employees will help improve trails and facilities for safer, reliable and enjoyable recreation experiences for all. With additional botany help this summer, we will remove more non-native plants from the alpine zone and forested communities, giving native species the opportunity to thrive. With the bolstering of recreation staff, the public will enjoy enhanced access to recreation opportunities across the national forest.

“Seasonal jobs can be a first step into a natural resources career, a way to build experience, or simply a chance to spend the summer working outside,” added Ibarguen.“We encourage anyone interested to apply.”

Interested applicants must apply through usajobs.gov. Job announcements and descriptions will be available beginning Feb. 20.
