GILFORD — Gunstock Mountain Resort has announced their new Outdoor Center Manager, William (Willy) Graves. Graves comes to Gunstock with many years of Nordic skiing experience, including time spent on the U.S. Ski Team.

Originally from Putney, VT, Graves spent his early years cross country skiing out of the Grafton Nordic Center, which his parents managed. He began ski jumping at five-years-old and became involved in Nordic Combined. He attended high school at the National Sports Academy in Lake Placid where he landed a place on the U.S. Ski Team. From 2011-2014 Graves was on the board of directors for USSA. Graves is a graduate of Westminster College in Salt Lake City with a degree in finance.

“I feel fortunate to be back here and closer to my roots,” said Graves. “Nordic skiing and jumping are life-long passions for me, and I think it’s one of the most fun sports you could possibly do.”

Graves is looking forward to making Gunstock’s Outdoor Center programming more robust by working with affiliate organizations. He also hopes to introduce more skiers into Nordic skiing at Gunstock.

“We are very excited to bring Willy on board,” said Tom Day, president and general manager of Gunstock Mountain Resort. “An avid cross country skier like him with a background stretching back generations is exactly who we want running our Nordic program.”
