Cleaning Meets Caring

SANDWICH — Cleaning the house is merely a simple chore – until an illness or injury strikes, leaving homemakers unable to complete basic household tasks. Recognizing that personal setbacks like this happen often, Ashley White, of White Glove Cleaning, is working with her team to give back to the community through the new “Cleaning Meets Caring” program.

As someone who has been in the cleaning business for 15 years, White has always taken pride in keeping the house tidy. However, her own world was turned upside down when she was put on six weeks bed rest a few years ago. This experience left her feeling helpless in her own home, as she was unable to do the basic cleaning that she had always done. So, since that experience, White has been eager to give back to local community members who are currently experiencing a similar setback.

“We are trying to reach people who have been impacted by a death of a family member, an illness, an injury, or something related,” said White. She said people in the community can nominate friends, neighbors or family members who are in need of free cleaning services due to uncontrollable circumstances.

The nomination process includes sending an email to ashleymae022@icloud.com or a Facebook message to White Glove Cleaning. In this message, community members are asked to give a brief description about who is being nominated and why they would benefit from two hours of free home cleaning. At the end of every month all applications are reviewed and one nominated community member will be chosen for the service.

“We are trying to get people back on their feet, involve the community and encourage local businesses to support each other,” said White. “We make no money on the service, but donate our time and products to help the community.”

There has been one winner supported thus far, and White said the experience was moving for both the community member and the cleaning team. White Glove Cleaners is looking forward to receiving new applications and helping another community member at the end of this month, according to White.
