FRANKLIN — Franklin Savings Bank recently granted $9,000 to the Franklin Outing Club so it can expand its snowmaking capabilities. This enhancement will enable Franklin Outing Club to expand its winter offerings to more community members over a greater number of days throughout the winter.
“The Franklin Outing Club is very happy to be a recipient of the Fund for Community Advancement grant from Franklin Savings Bank,” said President Tim Morrill. “This generous support will allow us to install permanent underground piping to supply the Veterans Memorial Recreation Area with a consistent water supply for our new snowmaking operation. All community visitors to The Vets in winter will benefit from our being open more often and with increased recreational programming.”
The Franklin Outing Club has operated the Veterans Memorial Recreation Area for over 60 years. Its snowmaking success will directly translate into serving more visitors and help offset the cost of recreational opportunities, which have always been offered free of charge or for a very low cost. The grant will go directly toward their piping to transport water from their pond to key locations within the ski area.
“Winter activities are a great way to bring the community together during a time when there are typically fewer social gatherings,” said Franklin Savings Bank President & CEO Brian Bozak. “We are happy to support an initiative that promotes more outdoor activities, and fun for friends and families throughout the season.”
