MEREDITH — Sarah J. Roberts, founder and principal consultant of SJR Nonprofit Solutions, LLC, has been awarded the Grant Professional Certified credential by the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. With the designation, Roberts joins a select group of more than 650 grant professionals who have attained the GPC.

Accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, the GPC is awarded to grant professionals who meet eligibility standards for education, professional experience, professional development and community involvement, and who pass a two-part written examination. The exam covers the core competencies of the grant profession, including building an effective grant application, project design, funding research, organizational development, ethics, grant management, funder cultivation and professionalism.

Roberts brings more than 20 years of experience across public health, healthcare marketing and nonprofit leadership, and has helped nonprofits secure more than $3 million in federal, state and private grant funding. Through SJR Nonprofit Solutions, she works with nonprofit leaders and boards on grant readiness, funding strategy and the internal systems that make that funding sustainable, with a particular focus on small and mid-size organizations with limited internal grant capacity.

“Nonprofits in the Lakes Region and across New Hampshire do essential work, often with very lean teams,” said Roberts. “Earning the GPC was a chance to measure my own practice against a national standard for the profession. The organizations I work with deserve a grant partner who holds herself to that standard in strategy, in funder relationships and in ethics.”

The credential helps keep the grant professional accountable.

“At GPCI, we are committed to excellence and accountability in the grants profession. The GPC credential recognizes professionals who bring strong knowledge, ethical practice, and leadership to their work,” said LaKeesha Morris-Moreau, GPCI president. “We are proud to welcome Sarah Roberts among the professionals who have earned this distinction.”
