MEREDITH — When Pastor Peter Lovett came to 1st Congregational Church, he had some goals in mind. As a lover of music, he wanted to introduce various Sunday services that incorporate different musical experiences. The first was a Bluegrass Sunday, which is now an annual event and has been very well received.
Presenting a different genre, on Sept. 25, at 10 a.m., there will be a Show Tunes worship service. Finding the perfect person with whom to collaborate, Phil Breton will be the guest pianist. Breton has played the scores for many high school musical productions, and more than 60 performances with the "Pittsfield Players" and "Streetcar Productions."
Joining Pastor Peter and Phil Breton will be talented musicians who are celebrated and known in various churches, as well as on many theatrical stages. Sharing their gifts of song, the ensemble includes church musical director Nancy Narducci, Amy Weston, Greg Dorge, and Marla Welker.
Many selections will be familiar and the service has parts for the church choir and the congregation to also join in, promising to be a fun, inspirational adventure. All are welcome to enjoy this musical time of worship at 4 Highland St., with parking in the back.
