GILFORD — The Gilford Community Church is hosting their next “Gals’ Night Out” on Friday, April 11, at 6 p.m. This month’s program will feature The Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative’s Power Chords, singing Broadway hits, along with a dinner catered by Ellie Murphy. Powerhouse is a professionally managed community theatre company designed to provide opportunities for New Hampshire residents to participate in live theatre onstage, behind-the-scenes, and in the audience. They are the resident theatre company of the Colonial Theatre in Laconia.
Power Chords Director Lorraine Barrows is a recently retired music teacher who grew up in the backyard of a summer stock theater. As a teacher and musical theatre director, her greatest pride has been in helping singers and performers reach their greatest potential. She has also directed award-winning adult barbershop show choruses and for 10 years was the director of education for the International Women’s Barbershop Organization. As part of her responsibilities there, she traveled North America and New Zealand conducting a cappella workshops and concerts for high school, college and adult singers.
Donations will also be collected for New Beginnings Shelter. They are currently in need of the following items: diapers (size 4), twin-size blankets or larger, twin-size mattress covers, sunscreen, Clorox wipes, bathrobes, plain t-shirts, shower caddies, reusable shopping bags, and shaving cream/gel.

Tickets can be purchased in the church office through Sunday, April 6.
