MOULTONBOROUGH — On Thursday, July 30, join Loon Preservation Committee Senior Biologist John Cooley for a gripping look at LPC’s winter ice rescues. Hear the stories of these critical operations that save loons trapped by sudden freezes. Learn what these high-stakes encounters reveal about loon life history, the value of rescue teamwork, and the growing threat loons face from a changing climate.
Held at The Loon Center in Moultonborough, the Summer Nature Talks are presented every Thursday at 7 p.m. during the months of July and August. All programs are free admission.
For over 40 years the Loon Preservation Committee has worked to preserve the common loon and its habitat in New Hampshire through monitoring, research, education, and management activities.
On the following Thursday, Aug. 6, there will be "Wiggles & Waggles: Loons on the Lake with John Rockwood.”
