In my July 31 column entitled "Presidential infidelity," I erroneously attributed a relationship with Mimi Alford to Calvin Coolidge. Ms. Alford’s relationship was with President Kennedy while she was a White House intern. She kept the relationship secret for 40 years but when it was leaked out, in 2011 she published a book entitled “Once upon a secret,” telling of her experience.
My apologies to Calvin Coolidge, who appears to have led an exemplary life.
