Wayne Anderson: Public education may have place for some families, never all families

“The role of public education is to prepare the individual to fit into society.” That is what we heard Tuesday night, Oct. 22, 2024, at the “Meet the Candidates” in Bristol, from both Richard and Carolyn Fluehr-Lobban.

The true role in educating our children is for all children to reach their God-given potential, to live free, and become productive people as they see fit, not what the state deems as necessary for its benefits. If readers listen to the “professional educators,” which is what the Lobbans told us they are; what they hear is Marxism Statist. A Statist is one who advocates for centralized control over social and economic affairs i.e. public education. The individual must be conformed to fit into the state’s needs; the state is greater than any individual. Respectfully, that is not Libertarianism and it will not sell here in New Hampshire. Libertarians advocate for the expansion of the individuals over that of the state. School choice is a God-given natural right derived from the very laws of nature, not given to us by a benevolent government, but rather by a loving creator, God. Representatives of the people would do well to respect our rights to such liberties.

We therefore declare today we shall not submit to the Statist call for only one choice for education for all children. One solution does not fit here in “Live Free or Die” New Hampshire. Public education may have its place for some families, never all families.

We would do well to remember lessons learned as a child from storyteller Jacob Grimm of the Grimm’s Fairy Tales. In "Hansel and Gretel" danger did not appear to them as a wolf, but rather as a grandmother. Vote wisely.
