To The Daily Sun,

I am supporting Kurt Webber for state senate based on his strong character and community service. He supports common sense legislation to safeguard our public schools and New Hampshire working families. A West Point graduate, he served 23 years as a Green Beret. Locally he has served many years on the Gilford School Board and has solid experience with school budgets and policy.

Are residents concerned about the future of public schools, property taxes, crippling of renewable energy policy, and lack of leadership on affordable housing? The choice between the candidates is clear. The Republican incumbent, Sen. Tim Lang, votes with the Free Staters most of the time. He has supported the defunding of our public schools by giving so called Education Freedom Accounts, with no accountability, to anyone regardless of financial need, to fund home, religious and private schooling. He voted against a bill to preserve local control over the location of data centers. Sen. Lang also voted against an affordable housing investment bill supported by a broad coalition. Meanwhile, Sen. Lang and the Republicans are forcing local property taxes to skyrocket by cutting other taxes on the wealthy and downshifting state obligations to the municipalities.

Please join me in voting for Kurt Webber for state senate to represent Ashland, Belmont, Campton, Center Harbor, Gilford, Holderness, Laconia, Meredith, New Hampton, Sanbornton, Sandwich and Thornton.
