To The Daily Sun,

The generation that returned from World War II was full of hope and optimism, even though they had suffered great hardship during the war. They defeated a menacing army that was bent on destroying democracy.

Their energetic spirit was built on a foundation of love of country, and our respective communities on a premise and promise that "We the people" means all of us, regardless of our skin color, the religion we practice, our gender and who we love — and with respect for institutions, although never perfect, that hold us together.

There was a time that we all believed in our public schools and in an equitable education for all children. We grew our New Hampshire around the notion that our children were worthy of investment for their future and for all of ours. The premise that the school voucher program is this, is a great myth that undermines an equitable education. Those currently in the state Legislative majority don’t seem to believe in our public schools anymore.

For the past 50 years every woman had a right to make decisions about her own body with their trusted medical provider without government interference. Women had value and there was hope for our daughters and granddaughters to fully embrace their potential. The Dobbs decision and the legal ramifications for those practicing obstetrics and gynecology makes it physically dangerous to be a woman. This is a step backwards.

There is a fragile dynamic between small business as risk takers and a community in need of clean water, housing, an adequate workforce and health care. A more robust political climate that is more likely to bring stakeholders together will change the trajectory that has stalled with the current legislative majority.

It’s time for a new legislative majority. Vote Sandra Ringelstein for Moultonborough, Madison, Tamworth.
