To The Daily Sun,
The aged term "What would Jesus do?" has long served as a moral compass for Christians when faced with a moral dilemmas.
Christians should not seek to mandate or force beliefs upon others who may follow another code of conduct. However, the concepts outlined herein are what I personally have chosen because they seem to me to be so correct, so right, that I hope everyone within our society will pause to consider them. As a country we are increasingly led by politicians who have long ceased to read their bible — our country is now a society of the unchurched.
A resurgence to the WWJD policies occurred in the 1990s. True Christians seek to apply biblical concepts to poverty, inequality, labor rights, and decisions of right and wrong. For example, I believe poverty will always be with us, and those with greater resources should be willing to give to those less fortunate. Unfortunately we see examples of just the opposite occurring. Those with a greater amount of melanin in their skin than mine witness daily a difficulty, a discrimination, and my heart goes out to them.
We made great strides countering discrimination in past decades, but have reversed course under a president who demonstrates a ruthless hate toward those of color or those born elsewhere. As readers do in personal relationships where we apply love, forgiveness, reconciliation, and denial of male supremacy concepts, I ask that they join me in seeking to spread correct beliefs to all, regardless of skin color or birth location. After all is said and debated, it is the right, the correct, the kind course of action.
To conclude, I ask, I challenge people to actively consider what Jesus would do when confronting ethical choices.Â
