To The Daily Sun,
I would like to thank Mr. Doug Wolff for his letter to the editor which appeared in the Wednesday Oct. 17 issue of The Laconia Sun. The title of his letter was “What common sense leads this Vietnam vet to think about politics and the state of the world we're living in.”
In his letter Mr. Wolff discusses his view of the policy strengths and weaknesses of both major political parties. He presents his views backing them up with “common sense” logic, as he puts it. He does so in a civil, thoughtful, and balanced way, without resorting to name calling, demonizing those who might have a different view, or making exaggerated inflammatory assumptions about the motives or objectives of those who hold positions different from his own. What a breath of fresh air in the midst of the stench from the cesspool of toxic politics into which this nation seems to be mired!
I may not agree with everything Mr. Wolff had to say, but that is not important. What is important is that he presented his views in a thoughtful and civil way which makes possible a respectful and meaningful discussion of the issues and problems facing this nation we all call home. Thank you Mr. Wolff.
