Marc Abear: Zohran Mamdani is elected as new NYC socialist mayor

New York City elected another socialist mayor recently. The 34-year-old Democrat socialist Zohran Mamdani became New York’s first Muslim mayor. He promised free buses, rent freezes, government grocery stores, and a $30 minimum wage; free stuff for everyone.

A radical Muslim-leftist earthquake with its epicenter in New York City struck America. Is this the picture of what is to come? This is what the radical Muslim-left wants for America laid bare for all to see.

The new Muslim-leftist mayor built his movement on defunding the police and abolishing ICE. The policies he and his supporters want are secessionist.

Those not supporting Islam or the Left call it chaos. Their expectation is we will get bureaucrats, not doctors and social workers, not police. This is the future Democrats want for readers and their city or town soon.

Whatever your politics, we all need to understand this is the new face of Democrat party.

It seems likely the GOP will continue their tired strategy simply replacing Nancy Pelosi’s name with Mamdani.

Democrats are no longer running from the socialist label; they are embracing it. Mamdani promised to freeze rents for over one million rent stabilized apartments, eliminate fares on all city buses at a cost of $600-$800 million annually, provide universal child care, and open government grocery stores subsidized to the tune of $140 million per year.

He plans to pay for these programs by raising taxes on corporations and wealthy New Yorkers. New York City voters embraced a candidate openly calling himself a Democratic socialist promising to fundamentally remake America's largest city.

Will this be the start of a sea change or lead to retrenchment of conservative values and principles? Tune in again next November and we’ll all learn the result together.
