To The Daily Sun,

Free enterprise, work, family and education result in economic opportunity. These things are the bedrock of America’s success. Today, too often, government barriers stand in the path of American prosperity.

We’re facing challenges from authoritarian regimes. China, Russia, Islam and other adversaries are testing America. What was once an American led international order may no longer exist. At best, it is something different than what Americans perceived it to be.

What should our foreign and defense policies be? Should we be supporting Ukraine, Taiwan and Israel? How do we meet their needs while rebuilding American soft and hard power?

The domestic economy is sputtering along. The appearance is the economy is growing and inflation is slowing. Yet, our long-term fiscal picture is in doubt. We have an aging workforce plus unsustainable and growing national debt.

Our economic challenges are immediate. It will take courageous political leadership with bold thinking to tackle these challenges. We must return to a dynamic free-market economy and demand a balanced budget that starts paying down our debt.

This will mean lowering health care costs, entitlement reform, increasing revenue and dealing with demographic transition.

Does government need our attention? Does Congress in need of revitalization? What ameliorates America’s political divides?

The U.S. Constitution has been in place for nearly 250 years; longer than any constitution ever written. That document is foundationally sound. There is a method to change it, if there were a need.

What we need is to return to our Judeo-Christian roots. What is needed is to recognize the importance of the individual. We all need a little more backbone and a lot less getting along ... and accepting half loaves. ... We need to declare our values and principles, to live them and expect our fellow citizens will too.
