Hard to tell from Jim Mayotte's pronouncement (letters, Jan. 9): "The United States of America is DOOMED," if he is still with Trump. I'd wish this was Jim coming to his best wits, and he now abandon Trump and Trump's thugs, goons. Here's what I just wrote as part of an online petition for a second impeachment of laws-flouting, conscienceless Trump:

Trump, back in campaign-mode, said he could shoot someone on the street and get away with it. Now he's done that, causing 5 deaths in our Capitol, with egging on his armed followers, and showing no contrition. He could read aloud what Ivanka wrote for him on Thursday after Terrible Wednesday, then on Friday express wanting to take back those humbled words. Trump's rotten to the core, and if he gets away with this, we're NOT a law-and-order nation. We are a Banana Republic, but bigger and with nukes. Yes, DOOMED.
