To The Daily Sun,
Subject: POW/MIA flag replaced by transgender banner!
Give me just a bit of time to explain, please? I recently placed a bit of news in this paper as a letter trying to generate some interest, which it did!
Because information was limited, I wanted to follow-up myself — so nothing would be second hand and any negative feed back would be on me as President of Northeast POW/MIA Network. I seldom speak on behalf of ANY veteran but this is one time I feel the need because the issue belongs to all who care along with the work and effort to change.
Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton of Virginia did remove the POW/MIA flag from her office and replace with a transgender banner they were calling a flag. (I informed them it was not.) I asked they chose not to replace a POW/MIA flag, along with the American and state flag, as all other reps seem to do, but instead add a transgender banner.
Now, I have called her DC office and ask to speak with her concerning this or be called (sure that will happen) and have discussed the issue with two different staffers. I explained I had nothing against the new congresswoman's stand for transgender issues, the problem is removing a symbol of American POW/MIA’s, thus forgetting them and the suffering of their families! We find that disgusting and unacceptable. Also, did her veteran community know she was going to do this when she was campaigning? Answer: No! I was told,”She very much supports veterans!” Well, don’t they all?
Her office has had calls. Most from N.H and Northeast! This staffer said she was very sorry and would discuss the matter with the congresswoman.
I have let all four of our N.H. reps know of this situation as well. So have other veterans and people who are upset by this congresswomen's disrespect or complete ignorance!
Please, continue to call her office and take the name of staffer you speak with. Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton's office can be reached at 1-202-225-5136. Contact our reps, too. Ha ha, good luck with that.
