L.J. Schaffnit: There is nothing wrong with the ideals, mission of DEI

Diversity has been the foundational cornerstone of the United States, the primary driver of its economic, cultural, and innovative growth throughout our history. The nation has thrived by integrating diverse perspectives, skills, and cultures into a cohesive, albeit complex, society. Under ideals of freedom and equality we have fostered a "melting pot" that has driven our prosperity.

"All men are created equal ... with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." — Thomas Jefferson

Equity, rather than giving everyone the exact same resources, provides fair treatment and opportunity for all by recognizing individual differences and ensuring everyone receives what's needed to reach their full potential — it's about justice, not sameness.

Inclusion is an American ideal inscribed on the Statue of Liberty. It conveys an intentional effort to make all individuals feel welcome, valued, respected and fostering an authentic culture of belonging. It endeavors to transform diversity into a cohesive, equitable society.

There is nothing wrong with the ideals of Diversity, Equity, or Inclusion. What is wrong is an administration that tramples on them. These concepts of DEI have become the enemy of a racist, bigoted governance. Respecting Diversity, promoting Equity, and encouraging Inclusion are considered woke by the Donald Trump regime.
