To The Daily Sun,

Just when you thought that all the silly ideas regarding wasteful taxpayer funding has been exhausted, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen has come up with something really needed in the name of tourism. The plan is to heat the streets and sidewalks in Berlin. The project will be carried out with government funds (your money) in the amount of $20 million. According to Shaheen, everything will be paid for in 30 years which is a financial bargain. I wonder if inflation is being taken into account. Veterans are sleeping in cardboard boxes in every city in this country which sickens me, while Shaheen is about to heat the streets in the North Country to enhance tourism. I was not aware of a tourism problem in New Hampshire. The toll booths traveling north are backed up for miles on a Friday while every road in the Lakes Region is turned into a parking lot. Am I missing something? Let's look at this for what it is, which is a political handout that will give politicians like Sen. Shaheen more relevance. The game plan is always the same whether it is a bridge to nowhere or heated sidewalks with the taxpayer footing the bills for directionless nonsense. If these people keep getting elected we are all to blame.
