To The Daily Sun,
I’m writing to ask you to re-elect Senator Bob Giuda in Senate District 2 on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Bob has served with distinction during his time in the state Senate, winning awards for his legislation, cutting taxes, and working to responsibly limit spending increases as a member of the Finance and Ways & Means committees.
What I find most important is Bob’s consistency of character and his honesty with the people of this district. While in office, he has acted and voted as a true Republican. He stands for fiscal discipline and supports responsible spending with a sharp focus on stewardship of taxpayers’ dollars.
Bob respects the sanctity of life and our Second Amendments rights (with an A rating and endorsement by both the NRA and Gun Owners of America), and consistently supports sound public health and safety legislation. Also, Bob received an A + from NH Firearms Coalition.
His primary opponent, Mr. DeVoy, a long-serving Belknap County Commissioner, demonstrates very different qualities. In his first run for public office he pledged to be fiscally responsible, but the budget under his direction as chair has grown 19%, from $26.8 million to the current year proposal of $31.9 million. County taxes to support this spending frenzy have grown a whopping 14%, from $13.8 million to $15.7 million. This is in sharp contrast to his recent mailer which claims, “Fiscal Responsibility, Efficiency and Transparency” are his top issues. As a taxpayer and voter, I find his words inconsistent with his actions as a commissioner. His record as an elected official is to spend and tax.
On the sanctity of life, his position is unreliable at best. And with his C rating from the NRA, & a D+ from NH Firearms Coalition, our Second Amendment rights are not safe.
Mr. DeVoy’s stated positions and his actions while in office don’t measure up to his claims. Having lived in Sanbornton for many years I feel very qualified to share with voters that his spoken words can best be described as “flexible” and consistently change over time. He has ignored the needs of our elderly.
Ladies and gentlemen of the Sanbornton, Tilton & New Hampton area, I ask you to vote for a true Republican, military veteran, on Sept. 8. Re-elect Sen. Bob Giuda – because integrity in public office matters.
