In the primary on Tuesday, Sept. 13, I urge anyone voting on a Republican ballot in Alton, Barnstead, Gilford or Laconia Ward 2 to cast their vote for Steve Hodges for Belknap County Commissioner District 3. Steve served 13 years as Belknap County Sheriff and worked 28 years in the department. Neither of his opponents, Harold Shurtleff or Leo Bernier, have experience in the workings of Belknap County.
I am the Democratic candidate for county commissioner, and I served the communities and businesses of Belknap County for some 15 years as the founding executive director of the Belknap County Economic Development Council. Come November, I want to face off against a candidate that I respect for his service and commitment to Belknap County, and that candidate is Steve Hodges. I don't mind the challenge, because win or lose Steve and I both know the other is committed to serving the residents of Belknap County.
