To The Daily Sun,
After MANY years of researching the need for more space for Town Offices, Police Station and Library as well as considerable dollars being spent for studies and proposals that were presented to voters and rejected... IT IS NOW TIME TO SAY “YES” TO BALLOT QUESTION #2.
I ask you to really think about the challenges faced by our police officers every day. We have serious drug issues, multiple accidents and deaths on Rte 106, frequent DWI arrests monthly, and an occasional murder investigation. In addition they must perform their daily job with diplomacy and understanding and they never know what they will be confronted with as they race to a call.
The “tax impact” to build this new building is estimated to be $.30/$1000 of assessed value, This relates to an increase of $30. on an assessed value of $100,000 !! I believe the safety of our families, property and homes is worth the investment.
Chief Lewandoski and Captain Mann are doing an outstanding job of operating a Police Department in a sub standard and somewhat dangerous building !! Let’s support them by voting YES for question 2 on Tuesday March 10 at Belmont High School.
