We the people must stand up against our government when it is in the wrong. President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Sen. Lindsey Graham, amongst others, are wrong (and they know it) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not our enemy, he is extremely grateful for our nation's support, and the disrespect we exhibited toward all Ukrainians during Zelensky’s recent Oval Office visit shows how ignorant we are as a nation.
In case we citizens forgot, in 1994 the United States, along with Russia, France and the United Kingdom, signed a memorandum offering Ukraine guarantees of territorial security in exchange for nuclear disarmament — within two decades Russia violated this agreement by illegally annexing Crimea in 2014. Diplomatic efforts to appease Vladimir Putin lead to several ceasefires, which as history has proven, were ineffectual in deterring Putin’s aggression.
The current war in Ukraine was started by Vladimir Putin and his regime — the objective for Putin is to feign glory and reclaim former Soviet territory while stealing Ukraine's natural resources, akin to "Make Russia Great Again."
The president of the United States is siding with Putin against Ukraine, against the free world, and we must stand against tyranny, foreign and domestic, regardless of political affiliation. Either the current U.S. administration abandons corrupt selfish ambition and publicly apologizes to Zelensky and Ukraine, with guarantees of continued U.S. support, or they should be removed from office.

Richard Littlefield’s recent letter insults New Hampshire’s heritage when denouncing peaceful political protest while simultaneously ignoring Jan. 6, 2021, where the center of government was attacked by supporters of President Trump in an effort to overturn a democratic election. Shame on him for representing only some of his constituents. Shame on us all.
