It was wonderful to attend one of the nation-wide “Love America” rallies recently. There is hope for America. People of all political affiliations, throughout the U.S., united Oct. 18, in patriotism to show disdain for a man pretending to rule America by divine right. The last person before Donald Trump who believed that nonsense was Britain’s King George III, two and a half centuries ago. America did not knuckle under to that king. America’s defiance changed the course of history forever.
The proposed “Arch of Independence” for Washington, D.C. should commemorate America’s 250-year independence from Kings, not glorify a fake king. As America approaches a magnificent anniversary, Trump is trying to erase 250 years of American history, saying no one cares. But America showed that it does care. No one can erase history. Not even Trump.
