To The Daily Sun,

I’ll be running for the Moultonborough School Board. I graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1979 with a degree in nuclear and mechanical engineering.

I joined the Navy and after two years of post-graduate training served onboard the USS Seadragon, SSN584. I held positions as reactor controls office, main propulsion assistant and weapons department head. Managed up to 12 sailors and left active duty in December 1983.

I worked in the high-tech industry from 1984 to 2022. Held positions as product assurance manager, engineering manager, manufacturing engineering manager with up to 45 employees and managed million-dollar budgets.

FYI, I remained in the U.S. Naval Reserves and qualified as a salvage diving officer. I retired in 1999 as a commander. My last assignment was commanding officer of mobile diving and Salvage Unit 1, Detachment 220. I managed up to 36 sailors and the unit’s annual budget.

I’m running for the Moultonborough School Board because I believe Moultonborough residents are paying too much for a mediocre education. I presented that at the Jan. 14 school board meeting. Here is a link: tinyurl.com/24e9ed3w. My 3-minute speech starts at time 29:20.

According to the New Hampshire Department of Education, Moultonborough’s 2024 English language arts proficiency is 60%, math proficiency is 47% and science proficiency is 40%. Here is a link: tinyurl.com/u345aev9. According to Henry Dahlquist’s letter, tinyurl.com/5cytnmx2, Moultonborough’s cost per student will exceed $41,000 if warrant articles IV and V are approved. My calculations concur with his. The NH state average is $20,323: tinyurl.com/4n47f9ks.

If readers are OK with that, reelect the same board members. If they want fiscal responsibility, get out and vote on Tuesday, March 11. Even if they are out of the area, they can request an absentee ballot. If readers have any questions, my email is bjenket@gmail.com. I’d like to hear from them.
