To The Daily Sun,

May 5 was the First Annual Cornhole Tournament to raise money for two very worthy organizations: Laconia Lacrosse Club and the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD). Twenty-seven teams showed up at the Bank of N.H. Stadium to vie for the title of 2018 Cornhole Champions, competing on 24 different custom made, sponsored boards. With the four Laconia High School players on the CHaD East/West New Hampshire All Star Football Team on hand to help run the event (Riley Roy, Drew Muzzey, Bradley Weeks, and Ben Beliveau), the tournament started just after noon under warm sunny skies with great enthusiasm.

Dan Dunn of Asphaltics Paving Company, and his partner Richard Moore, claimed the championship title and received two sets of custom made cornhole boards with a value of over $400!

The event raised almost $7,000 for the two organizations and would not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors and the donations from the community. Laconia Lacrosse Club and the CHaD players would like to thank sponsors: Magic Blades Skating Club, Weeks Commercial Real Estate, H&P Apartments, DRM Reality, the Briggeman Family, Sanitary Dry Cleaning, VFW Laconia Post 1670, Stafford Oil, Wilkinson-Beane’s Team WB, Granite State Glass, The Elks Club, The Mark Roy Family, Scott Compton Builders, Winnipesaukee Muskrats, The American Legion, Meredith Village Savings Bank, GCE Engineering, Chaisson’s Carpentry, O’Hara Landscape, Asphaltics, Zero Waste Management, Dunkin' Donuts, Matt King Foundations, the Rod Roy Family, and Positive Tracks. We would also like to thank Bank of NH, the Laconia Police Association, and Energy Auction House for their generous donations, as well as Dave of Lakeside Famous Roast Beef for the pizzas. And a huge “THANK YOU” to all of the participants and families who turned out to make this event such a success. We look forward to hosting this wonderful event again in 2019!
