To The Daily Sun,
On behalf of my Roman Catholic friends, I write this open letter concerning Saint Joseph Catholic Church. A lot of Catholic people have asked me to write a letter petitioning Bishop Libasci of the Diocese at 152 Ash St., Manchester, N.H.
These people are looking for answers. To them the issue is confusing. They want to know why raze the church? Is there someone who can take down this building block by block and store it on someone's land to be resurrected at a later date? And why was the decision made, not to sell to another denomination? After all, the same Manchester Diocese a few years back sold Our Lady of the Lakes a Catholic Church on Washington Street in Lakeport to the Evangelical Baptist Churchm which is Protestant. So why not St. Joseph's?
I was told Grace Capital Church wants the building for their church. As a community, us Catholics and Protestants deserve answers.
My dear Catholic friends have a sentimental attachment to St Joseph's. To them, they tell me, it's a family problem. This building goes back three, even four generations.
We await your answer.
Bishop Paul Blake
