To the editor,

As we sit back and watch the world go by, we wonder who has our best interest at heart. We wonder how much of a fight was there, when all of Congress voted to fund the wars in Iraq in Afghanistan, in the billions of dollars a day, week, month, year. No matter the time, the amount, who will benefit from it? We are told it cost a million dollars for each soldier; if only they were the ones receiving it.

Have you wondered who is benefiting from this war? The war profiteers, the shareholders, the stock holders, some are members of Congress; it certainly isn't the people who don't have the means, who live day-to-day, paycheck-to-paycheck. We hear the expression, fight it there so we won't have to fight it here. That saying may have worked in 200 but it doesn't anymore.

We have our own Taliban right here in our own country, maybe even in Congress. They just don't have weapons of mass destruction as we know it. Their weapon is the power to give the people health care, or not. They have the power to give some a tax cut, or not. They have the power to send our young people to a war that has no end, or not. They have the power to give people a decent wage. They have the power to fund the money to build OUR bridges, OUR roads, OUR schools, to give OUR people health care, OUR people a place to live, or not. We all know and want a health care plan that when you go to a doctor or a hospital, even if you don't have the money, that you will get help. You don't want to think that when you go to bed at night, that your only hope is that you won't wake up, because you have heart problems, or cancer or kidney disease and no health care, because Congress, would rather have their own way about your life-saving decisions, that they decide who gets health care , who lives and who dies. Who made them God?

I really am ashamed of Congress, some members more than others. To put money before the well being of people. It makes one wonder if there really is any reason to vote. The war profiteers, the health insurance companies, the oil companies, the banks, CEOs and a few elite people, control everything. It seems to me that those that have . . . want more. So what's the use? So when our troops come home, will they come home to something they fought for or for something that only Congress and a few, think they are entitled to?

Oh well, maybe 2010 will be better?
