To the editor,
Now and then someone I know notices that I get published now and then in the Daily Sun. It may be of small circulation and in a small town or city. But it fulfills a childhood and young person's favorite ambition.
Since I was disabled and can't work, according to a bunch of brain surgeons, my small publications are often evaluated by "concerned" but less well-read people as "they must give you something to do."
Well, I could take up knitting again to be busy, if I just wanted to be bored and ladylike. But I hope to teach people some things about Asia, such as I studied some 40 years ago at Cornell University. Not much has changed except for TVs and the news on them, not just word-of-mouth, in the Middle Eastern coffee shops.
At this time of mourning for President Reagan, it seems that we need another "great communicator." Reagan ended the "Cold War" of such long duration. Now we need a new face (and heart) of equal talent to end what has been a "hot war", not just children told to hide under their desks in preparation for an Atom bomb from Russia.
