To the editor,

The major problem that conservatives have with "proud liberals" (Mr. Scott Cracraft) concerns the liberal idea that everyone's money and property are theirs to give to their causes and "the poor".

There is no better example of this faulty dogma than in Mr. Cracraft's sentence : "This system has long provided educational opportunities for all Americans and which has contributed to the strength of our democracy".

In a democracy, the majority rules. If a plurality wants to take the proud liberals' money, or property, and give it to a needy conservative, a simple majority vote will suffice. If the majority of voting Americans wants to stop abortions, a simple majority vote will stop the killing.

However, Mr. Cracraft does not "pledge allegiance to the flag and the democracy for which it stands"! He pledges to the REPUBLIC. The root of the word is RES PUBLICA, a people under law. We are NOT A DEMOCRACY. Mob rule is not our system. The word democracy appears nowhere in the Bill of Rights, The Preamble to the Constitution, and the Constitution itself. We are a Republic.

The proud liberals are violating our system of government by reaching into others pocketbooks to give to their favorite causes. Most people would call that theft. The proud liberals are un-American. The proud liberals are free to reach into their own pocketbooks to fund all their pet desires. Stay out of my wallet.
