To the editor,

As an American I am deeply concerned about what is happening to this country. I have been in a small business for over 30 years and have been up and down. In all that time, I could not think of the government stepping in and taking over my business, even in the worst times. Today, June 1, GM closed it's doors. The government fired the CEO a month ago and now it will be called Government Motors? Not to mention that we are paying for all this.

What about the largest insurance company — AIG? I guess we own that too? Do you think we will make a profit next year? I know this is not a joke and I am not making light of it, but sometimes I feel I am the only one that may feel this way. I have always paid taxes and because I don't want to pay more than my share, some think that is Un-American. I don't think so.

I use to believe in right and wrong but every time I express myself lately to someone, they say I am not politically correct. When has the right thing been a political thing? When has it been Un-American to voice your option, say it as it is, be honest and stand up for what you believe in? Our motto here in New Hampshire is "LIVE FREE OR DIE". Everyone advised me not to write this letter. They pointed out that my business would be hurt by it. Here I go again. They also told me not to save the Tilton Inn, with all its history. A parking lot is what Tilton needed. You make your own decision about that one. I believe I saved history for all of us.

This letter to the editor is also to invite you to a gathering at the 1875 Inn, 255 Main Street, Tilton on Thursday, June 11 at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

Please come and join us to express how you feel. This gathering has no political affiliations just concerned Americans.

Please RSVP by June 9th. By the way, I never knew how to write out a trillion dollars and still don't.

I'm a very concerned American.
