To The Daily Sun,
I moved to Bonita Springs, Florida, from Laconia five days before Hurricane Irma hit my new hometown. When my power came back on, I read about the upcoming Energy Forum on Oct. 4, to be held at the Inter-Lakes High School in Meredith (5:30 tour; 6 p.m. pizza; 6:30 p.m. program). Attendees will hear about innovation in energy technologies and how they are being used locally.
Now living in an area which is very aware of energy sources and costs, I was encouraged to read of the approach taken by the organizers of this event: New Hampshire Sustainable Energy Association, Revision Energy, Resilient Buildings Group, and the Belknap County Democrats. These groups are promoting renewable energy success stories in our state. They will illustrate how both individuals and businesses can benefit financially as they reduce energy consumption at the same time. They are providing solutions, not just discussing the problem.
So I encourage families, small business owners, and others in the Lakes Region to attend the meeting and get some ideas that can simultaneously help themselves and the community at large.
