To the editor,

John Edwards has really done the Bush campaign a lot of good recently. He declared in a campaign speech that, if he and John Kerry are elected, they will see to it that stem cell research is fully funded by their administration. By gum, quadriplegics will get up from their wheelchairs and walk again! His new campaign slogan could be, "'We'll lie, so you won't die! "' This illustrates the absurd lengths the Kerry camp will go to to get elected.

Democrats have been saying that President Bush won't fund stem cell research, when he is the only president who has funded it. He simply won't sacrifice future embryos with our tax money, while he is still funding existing adult and umbilical cord stem cell research.

Democrats are perfectly willing to have the government sponsor future research, when it could be funded by the private sector, if they were interested. After all, they could literally make a killing on it if it worked.

When it comes to saving American lives by protecting us from terrorists, however, Democrats drag their feet. They moan about deficits and whine that France doesn't like us anymore. They complain about the "'huge" costs of the war in Iraq.

Democrats have no problem with deficits when they are the ones doing the spending, on such useful items as one more building dedicated to Senator Robert Byrd, millions to study the mating habits of gnats, or art exhibits featuring crucifixes in vats of urine.

Neither John Edwards, nor anyone else has any proof at all that stem cell research will help cure anything. But, as usual, he knows better than we do how to use our money. He would deny life to some humans in order to (maybe?) prolong the lives of others. What a guy.
