To the editor,

It's almost laughable to be told that ending illegal and immoral invasions and occupations of other nations is somehow "morally bankrupt". It pains me to hear Ms. Morrisette whistling past the graveyard as she did in her recent letter. It's even more painful to hear her, much less the resident in the White House, speak about "morals" and "victory".

You want "something good and right to happen"? Then you should have opposed this illegal and immoral war from the beginning. It was wrong to invade Iraq and Afghanistan, countries which had not attacked the U.S., had no intention of attacking the U.S., and had no ability to attack the U.S. You say you want "victory". There is no victory to be had in Iraq or Afghanistan, Ms. Morrisette. There is no victory to be had from criminal invasions and criminal occupations of other nations. There is only universal scorn, denigration, and humiliation from the rest of the world. It's too bad if you don't like your "president" denigrated, humiliated, or disrespected. He has brought these things on himself, and on this nation.

The "constructive and positive" ideas I have for this nation are these: end the illegal, immoral occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan NOW. Bring our honored troops home from this pointless, disgraceful action NOW. Assure that Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney, Mr. Rumsfeld, Ms. Rice, Mr. Wolfowitz, Mr. Powell, and the top American commanders who ordered the disgraces at Abu Graib, Fallujah, Mosul, and other places in Iraq are made to face international trial and condemnation for their criminal acts.

It is those who would support Mr. Bush's wars who need to wake up and realize that it is your position, and not mine, that has lost the hearts and minds of the people of this nation. The people of America have finally, at long last, awakened to the fact that this war, this administration's actions before, during, and after 9/11, and the administration's foolish spending cuts and tax cuts that could have prevented situations like the one now occurring in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, are all humiliating, denigrating and disrespecting to Americans and the world at large.
