To the editor,
It's about time someone cared about the seniors! Thank you Tilton Police Chief Cormier for doing what the manager of Belle Peabody should have done there and at the other two apartment complexes she runs, at Danny Drive and in West Franklin. Those residents aren't allowed air conditioners either. To bad Franklin doesn't have a chief that checks on the seniors in his town. It's stifling in their apartments, too, and no one cares.
Old people cannot afford stand-up air conditioners that cost three to four hundred dollars and lift them to empty the water either. Why can't Franklin get their rule rescinded, to? How can a manager go to sleep at night knowing its 90 to 100 degrees in a disabled person's apartment? The chief of Franklin and the Health Department and the city council should do the same thing the Tilton people did. Go check on the senior. Talk to them and find out what's going on. Find out why so many people have moved out! Go to every apartment!
Again, thank you over and over for someone finally caring enough to go check and to do something about it. What about the people who can't afford it? Is there anywhere they can get help to pay for the extra electricity? They have to pay for it up front you know?
If the people who built these places had put in back doors or fire escapes this would never have happened. What does the fire department think of senior places with no fire escapes?
Thank you again!
