To The Daily Sun,
Ms. Buker:
Please don’t talk down on yourself for not understanding what is a less-than-honorable “program.”
I believe I know which gas station(s) you are referencing, and there’s a really nasty “incentive program” that they are promoting: connect your bank account to their “rewards card”! The rewards card USED to be a great idea — until they added the need to connect it to your bank account. Attaching your bank account/debit card to their rewards card, you get the “special gas discount,” and you never have to take your debit card out of your wallet. The “rewards card” can take the money straight from your account.
Great idea, right? THINK AGAIN! You get rewards points for in-store purchases as well as fuel purchases. I, for one, would not put munchies on a card, so would want my incidentals to count for rewards but pay cash. Except now, they scan your rewards card so the purchase will be counted, and if they “didn’t hear you say you’re paying with cash” they charge your account. NOT an acceptable practice!
Ms. Buker, you most definitely have the correct idea: buy fuel elsewhere!
