To the editor:
I would like to thank all the people that took the time to go and vote this past Tuesday, I believe we set a record in New Hampshire for a mid-term election, but what seemed to miss the national and local news was that here in New Hampshire we also set a record by electing the first woman to Washington in history. (I guess we are to small a state to get this kind of recognition.) Carol Shea-Porter won an election without any sleazy, mud slinging, or misguided ads, she also ran without any help from the Democrats, and it proves that you can win if you are honest sincere, and have people that have the same values as yourselves and willing to work, no PACs, no outside help, and no one that you are beholden to. The day we get rid of big money in politics is the day we will get good politicians, and the day all politicians can only use local money as well as their own will we get honest representatives. There should be a limit on how much money can be spent, and TV time should be free to all, with a limit for each (what a concept). The people have spoken and sent a clear message from around the country for both parties to start working for the people that elected them. We are mad and if nothing changes we will change it in 2008. I would also like to see what could be done to get an independent party started. As an independent both parties know we are a voting block that now has the power to be noticed, and can set an agenda.
